So get to know us, learn more about the community solar industry, and always feel free to reach out. In case you haven’t been able to tell, we love talking about community solar and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Fuquan, you just joined the PowerMarket team. Where were you before PowerMarket?
I started my career at E*Trade and Sysco. At Sysco, I eventually started working as a Jr. Financial Analyst with the Finance Manager and CFO at the time. There, I learned a lot and was able to get my hands dirty. Ultimately, I wanted to take on more responsibility but there wasn’t a position open at the time and that led me to become a Financial Analyst at Ansell which is where I was before PowerMarket. The Excel and Reporting experience I got there was what I enjoyed the most about that job.

How did you first hear about PowerMarket?
I first heard about PowerMarket through Indeed when I was applying to jobs. I applied and Mahvish reached out. I initially didn’t respond to her right away but then she reached out again and that’s how it all started.

What made you want to come to PowerMarket?
During the interview process everyone kept talking about how great the team was. I was looking for that type of work environment because I feel like I do my best work when I am supported by my team. There's also great management here that makes you feel comfortable to ask as many questions as you’d like. I even was reading this interview series on the website before I started and everyone kept talking about how great their co-workers were across the board and I thought that I needed to see it for myself.

How is PowerMarket different from other places you have worked in the past?
I mean the energy. I feel like the first week or two at a new job the energy is high, right? But I’m about a month and half in now and the energy has been the same since the first day. And you match energy for energy.

What drew you to clean energy?
Throughout the interview process, everyone was really passionate about what they were doing and the fact that what they were doing was good. Good for the planet, for people, and finding affordable energy for people and I thought how can I not get involved in this?

I know you are new to the team but what is one thing that you like about PowerMarket so far and how would you describe PowerMarket’s culture?
PowerMarket’s culture is like a big welcoming hug. The energy is infectious. Everybody's willing to help each other and no one has any reservations as to how much they're willing to do for the next employee. There also is a lot of freedom to create. Mahvish gives me free rein to come up with reports and then checks in with me and we see what we can do to make it better.

You always seem to have a lot of energy that you bring to the group. What’s something that gets you excited to come to work every morning?
I guess finally having that family environment - that's exciting. To get up and work with people who actually look forward to working with you. And then at the same time, I'm excited to see if I can fix something or update something or create something new.

What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I love anime. It’s a cross between the best of both worlds. It gives you a cartoon look that entices our youth but the seriousness of a real show that appeals to our maturity as adults.
